STEALING GLANCES AND TAKING BITES AT
BREAKFAST THIEVES, BANGSAR
There's a name for the international design language of post-social media cool - reclaimed Industrial chic juxtaposed against Calacatta marble, mason jars, and fiddle leaf figs - the hipster aesthetic of which is designed (that is, according to Kyle Chayka's piece for The Guardian) as a soothing balm for the "wealthy, mobile elite" who want their 'authentic and off the beaten track' with a side of wifi. Chayka calls it AirSpace, and bemoans this globalised style as homogenous. Personally? Hey, if it keeps my Instagram feed neat... In all seriousness though, I'm all for the world being a smaller place especially when said globalisation manifests itself in the form of delicious, delicious brunch.
And apart from the New Yorkers nobody does brunch like the 'Strayans. Cafe culture has spread like bushfire in Malaysia thanks to the country's relative proximity to the Antipodes. My second favourite* entity to arrive from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur is the second branch of the new Bangsar café that's got all the Instagrammers and brunch hunters excited - Breakfast Thieves.
*my most favourite is arriving today. Boomchickawahwaahhh

Today marks the 17th year of Formula One in Malaysia, with the teams and cars travelling from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur for the second leg of F1 season. Yesterday I welcomed the 17th year of Formula 1 in Malaysia at the Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix Gala 2015 where the teams principles, drivers, and members of several royal families were the guests of honour.
If you were in K.L on Saturday evening you’d have been dazzled by the incredible fireworks display in the city centre, right beside Suria KLCC and the Petronas Twin Towers. You may had also noticed a light show coming from Malaysia’s largest projection screen above the W Hotel, on the site of the soon-to-be Tropicana The Residences. As pedestrians looked up in awe at this stunning pyrotechnic display, myself and a select guests witnessed this spectacle from above - 57 floors up to be exact - at the Global Launch of The Residences by Tropicana.

My blog has been described as 'the bridge between Kuala Lumpur and London' by insiders in various industries who celebrate the burgeoning talent of Malaysia's keenest while lamenting the inevitable brain drain when said talent leaves the country to seek their fortunes elsewhere. Like many privileged youth of my generation I've enjoyed a foreign education, but the difference is that after my studies I stayed on in London for nearly a decade. Yet I've still kept my ties to Malaysia - I have loving, supportive family and friends there; I get work offers from keen clients in K.L; and even Posh, Broke, & Bored is represented in the UK by Asia Pacific's First Blog Advertising Community which was founded by a Singaporean and, you guessed it, a Malaysian.

Yesterday was mine and Henry's last day in South East Asia. I started my month-long winter break with Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Hanoi, Ha Long, then met up with Henry in K.L where we embarked to Borneo on an adventure of wildlife, tropical islands, and ushering in the Year Of The Goat, and back to Kuala Lumpur. Today we close the final chapter on February's sojourn and fly back to London, so yesterday we bade a bittersweet 'goodbye-for-now' to K.L and her many tropical delights (although I won't miss the heat, I can tell you that) with a lazy day in the city. Doing what I like to do best: shop, swim, and spa, at my two favourite downtown destinations - Starhill Gallery and Ritz-Carlton, mais bien sûr.

Will you just look at my girls all lined up like a girl band? I want to say K-Pop girl group but there's only seven of us - we need at least two more members to make the numbers, ha. Hot damn, are my girlfriends bringing sexy-black or what - and we're all black everything, all black all black 'cos Michiekins said so. That's right. On Sunday we, the Backseat Girls (I'll explain later) synchronised and dressed more or less head-to-toe in black for Michiekin's birthday high tea at the swanky new-ish M Marini Caffè in Suria KLCC. You know what that means - lots of fashion outfit photos! *flexes*

I'm so lucky I got to spend Valentine's Day with some of my best friends; in fact my day was devoted to the celebration of not one, but two birthdays - my best friend (and you know I don't use that phrase lightly) Michiekins, and Loui.
Add to my resume 'content creator for and Instagram muse of Malaysia Tatler' for that's exactly what I did in the run up to this year's Malaysia Tatler ball. For a collaborative feature with Malaysia Tatler online I created a series of exclusive Tatlergrams (Tatler-Instagrams) affording a look into how I prepare from the moment I receive my invitation to the red carpet.
