An Italian Hog Roast with Il Porco at Bunga Bunga, Battersea

Vegetarians, look away - today's blog post is all about pigging out. Literally.

Il Porco x House of Peroni L'Osservatorio: Bunga Bunga, Battersea

If the adage 'you are what you eat' holds true, then can call me Miss Piggy. Yesterday evening I joined one of my favourite longstanding collaboratorsThe House of Peroni, for a proper Italian hog roast at Bunga Bunga. It's never too early to start bulking up for winter, and so this infamous Italian restaurant-bar-house of mischief teamed up with one of Italy’s most iconic brands, Peroni, to launch IL PORCO - London’s most authentic Italian hog roast. Chewing the fat, indeed...
Head chef Alexis de Naray conceived an extraordinary three-course feasting menu of pork delicacies that literally goes the whole hog. A starter of pork scratchings, olives and caramelised red onion home-baked focaccia bread was followed by scrumptious sharing dishes made from the entire pig: slow cooked shredded pork shoulder, pig cheek arancini, pig fat roasted potatoes, whole roasted porchetta, slow cooked sticky ribs, garlic and rosemary pork loin medallions and pork and apple sausages wrapped in pancetta. The spread was served with aubergine parmigiana, celeriac remoulade, baby carrots and Bunga’s special BBQ sauce. My epic pig-out ended with bacon and chocolate brownies and honey panacotta ice cream served from a gondola-shaped platter.
Each course was paired with Peroni Nastro Azzurro Infusions: the Peroni Limoni; an aperitif of Peroni Nastro Azzurro, limoncello, peach liqueur and lemon juice, Peroni Speziato with orange, fennel, black pepper and rosemary spices, and finally; paired with pudding, Peroni Strawberry Fields with strawberry puree, lemon juice and mint.

IL PORCO is hosted at The House Of Peroni's latest pop up L'Osservatorio: a gorgeous private dining room perfect for events, with room for a 30-strong dinner party or cocktail parties up to 50 guests, a secretly hidden karaoke system, and especially important for snap-happy foodies: a soaring skylight roof and glass walls that let in plenty of natural light for food photography.

IL PORCO is a monthly affair, beginning December, at The House of Peroni L'Osservatorio, Bunga Bunga.
Get your fix of la dolce vita with an Italian hog roast plus the trimmings - delizioso!
