Scenes from Royal Ascot 2015

June 21, 2015

Should one depart from the conservative confines of the Royal Enclosure for the Grandstand, one would find a more colourful crowd which makes for a more amusing game of people-watching and a better look at the Royal Carriage - when I went in 2013, all the top hats blocked my view of the Queen, but happily this year I got my perfect photo of Her Majesty!

What you won't see from my photo diaries of this year's Royal Ascot is any shots of myself, because I foolishly cleared out my entire wardrobe in a decluttering frenzy after reading Marie Kondo which meant I had nothing show-stopping to wear. And if I'm not dressed to the nines, you can be damn sure there won't be any photos of myself (the internet never forgets, but I'd like to think I can). To be honest, I wasn't planning to go to the races this year but Marlene (a Royal Ascot virgin!) asked me to show her the ropes, and I'd never say no to her - she's an absolute sweetheart! Anyway, why would you want to look at pictures of me wearing my weak attempt at a floral suit when this post has photos of beautiful equines, flowery fillies (I'm talking about the women), and the Queen? Enough of my faff, carry on. I hope you enjoy my photos of the scenes from Ladies Day.

Are you a Royal Ascot regular? Which day do you prefer: Opening Day, Ladies Day, or do you tag along on Fridays and Saturdays? Did you go this year? Show me your posts, and your outfits! x

  1. I remember the one and only time I've seen the Queen in real life, we were at the Royal Horse Show and I noticed four men in suits walking towards us in a square formation which I thought strange until I realised there was a little old lady in the middle of them! She walked right past us and it was delightful!

  7. Elaine, I'm using a Canon 600D and 50mm 1.8 lens. You can read my guide to camera lenses here! The Olympus Pen EP7 is a decent camera and I'm thinking of reviewing it soon, so keep an eye out on my blog! x

Beautiful photos Jasiminne! It was absolutely pouring with rain when I went on the Saturday so all my photos had dark grey clouds in them :'(
